| Nowadays, energy is one of the most effective factors in human’s life and even relationship between countries. Energy crisis, restriction of using fossil fuels and pollutions made by them has forced numerous countries to reduce their dependency to fossil fuel by turning to renewable energies. Sun is the greatest source of energy which offers a high amount of free energy for most countries of the world. Today, many devices are developed to capture this free energy and convert it into thermal or electrical energy. Photovoltaic-thermal(PVT) systems can produce the electricity from the solar energy. The wasted heat is also produced by PVT systems and can be used for drying fruits. Therefore, thermal efficiency of the system increases due to the saving of energy. PVT systems are very suitable for the applications which these two kinds of energies are required concurrent. This combined heat and power (CHP) system can be utilized in solar fruit dryers for the purpose of increasing the temperature of drying air and also for supplying electricity of the fans and other usages. In this study, a solar dryer has been designed as an application of PVT technology and optimized by a novel method named meta-heuristics algorithms. Tilt angle and produced power of panels are considered as decision variables in this method. |
